Mr Michael Hsu is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist originally from Vancouver, Canada. He obtained his Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia in 2015. After working and travelling for 2 years he moved over to Brisbane in late 2017 to pursue a post-graduate physiotherapy degree from the University of Queensland. Michael undertook a clinical placement at The Brisbane Spine Clinic and joined the team upon completion of his degree. He is a believer in life-long learning, and will continue to delve into the latest research, listen to podcasts, and take professional development courses through his development as a clinician.
In clinic he uses a combination of hands-on treatment, exercise and most importantly patient education throughout the entire course of treatment. In the long-term, Michael believes patient self-management is key, and can be achieved through the development of healthy habits and behaviours discussed collaboratively with the patient. Because of his strength and conditioning background, Michael is particularly interested in rehabilitating sporting/orthopaedic injuries (knees, shoulders, hips) – but also enjoys helping patients with persistent low back or neck pain.
In his time away from clinic Michael enjoys getting outdoors to the beach or mountains, checking out museums and restaurants, and catching up with friends (or a combination of all of those). He loves travelling and has visited many countries and will continue to do so (next on his never-ending travel list include South America, Iceland, and the Middle East). He lives an active lifestyle and enjoys going to the gym regularly and experimenting with different exercises, basketball, as well as hiking and running.
If you are looking to move and feel better or have a particular goal you’d want to work towards, he would love to work together and help achieve those goals.
